Primary care is coming to
Anderson Island!

Anderson Island Healthcare Advocates (AIHA) is bringing community-supported primary care to Anderson Island, Washington—starting with a mobile medical van in partnership with Peninsula Community Health Services (PCHS).

Our Purpose

Grounded in community wellness

Anderson Island Healthcare Advocates (AIHA) is a facilitator of health care delivery. We source professional services to bring health care to our neighbors. While AIHA is not a healthcare provider and does not offer medical services, we are committed to making it easier for you to access the health care you need.

We have great news! We are excited to announce the first phase of our multiyear plan to bring primary care to Anderson Island via a mobile medical van.

Learn more about Phase 1

On-island presence

We are dedicated to improving quality of life by facilitating exceptional healthcare, advancing optimal health outcomes, and fostering community engagement.

AIHA is governed by a board of directors made up of island residents who have deep experience with clinical practice, community outreach, and healthcare administration.

Phase 1

Mobile medical van launch

Peninsula Community Health Services (PCHS) will provide care through a mobile van twice a month once fundraising targets are met.
The van will be staffed by a PCHS primary care provider accepting new patients.

  • Most insurance accepted
  • Uninsured patients accepted
  • Access to 24/7 provider phone line

Why this approach

After exploring multiple options, a mobile clinic is the most practical and cost-effective way to begin care on the island.

Who will provide care

PCHS is under contract with AIHA to staff and operate the mobile van. They are a federally qualified health center with deep experience serving rural communities.

About PCHS
What the van offers

Provider visits, physical exams, lab draws, and more. Established patients receive 24/7 access to PCHS’ provider-staffed phone line.

When services start

Services begin once AIHA raises sufficient funds to underwrite each van day on the island. Target: fall launch once fundraising goals are reached.

We can’t do this without you

AIHA is applying for multiple grants and expects substantial support over the next year, but immediate community giving is essential to start services and demonstrate island commitment. Every dollar helps—no contribution is too small.

  • Launch services this fall by underwriting mobile clinic days.
  • Show grant foundations strong local backing.
  • Keep care close to home for every neighbor.

Give securely via Zeffy (100% fee-free) to help us reach launch. Prefer to pledge by email? That works too.

FAQs

Answers to common questions

Are AIHA and PCHS partners or affiliates?

No. AIHA is contracting with PCHS to bring the mobile clinic to the island. AIHA is not a medical provider.

Are AIHA or PCHS making money from this program?

No. PCHS mobile units operate at a loss, and AIHA anticipates needing alternative revenue such as grants to sustain services.

What alternative revenue sources are you exploring?

Private and public grants are in progress. If successful, we may consider a referendum for steady funding in the future.

If I don’t like the PCHS provider, can I switch?

Yes. You can seek care elsewhere at any time. Note that primary care wait times elsewhere can be six months or longer.

Why is the van only here two days a month?

Funding. Initial private contributions will support two days per month. Additional donations or grants will expand availability.

Will AIHA have access to my medical information?

No. The contract prohibits sharing identifiable information with AIHA. PCHS may share aggregate, de-identified data for program evaluation.
